Vila-seca City Council, as the entity responsible for the tourism and territorial management of Vila-seca, holds the Biosphere certificate, issued by Biosphere Responsible Tourism (BRT), at silver level.
This certificate recognises that, in accordance with the methodology that the Biosphere Scheme applies specifically to the destinations typology V3.0, of 30 April 2026, the entity has completed an assessment process based on evidence documented and verified by BRT, a certification body independent of the Institute for Responsible Tourism (ITR), owner of the scheme, documenting conformity with the 33 requirements covered by the level achieved.
This process is not limited to a one-off review: the certification is subject to periodic monitoring that checks, over time, that the documentation provided continues to meet the criteria of the scheme. In this way, maintaining the certificate and the level achieved requires the entity to keep demonstrating, on an ongoing basis, compliance with what has been assessed, and not merely to prove it at a single point in time.
