The island has established itself throughout history as a destination committed to the preservation of the environment and sustainability, and in 1993 it was declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO.
Likewise, Lanzarote has been working for years on the development of a tourism product based on sustainability and responsible tourism. As proof of this, in 2015 the island became the first destination in the world to be certified by Biosphere Responsible Tourism.
