Ciudad de Mendoza

Committed

This destination is in the process of certification.

The City of Mendoza declared a climate emergency in 2020 and established the Municipal Climate Change Committee (CMCC), which advises the local government on adaptation and mitigation. The committee works with institutions such as UNCuyo, CONICET, AEHGA, and civil society on assessments, GHG monitoring, mitigation strategies, and the protection of natural systems. The city has 45 km of bike lanes connecting municipalities across Greater Mendoza. It promotes xeric gardens and modernized irrigation systems across 570,000 m² of green spaces, achieving over 80% water-use efficiency while preserving its historic irrigation canals. Waste management includes recycling, composting, and environmental education. Tourism and gastronomy are supported by agencies such as Kahuak and certified hotels including Sienna, Argentino, and Alta Montaña.
